  • Overview

    The Drop Ship Merchandise team at Pier 1 is responsible for identifying, negotiating with and launching new suppliers and products on Pier1.com. The Drop Ship Merchandise Assistant will work with external partners and internal cross functional teams to manage the setup and maintenance related to vendor and item creation. You will ensure that drop ship skus are created efficiently and accurately; following through until the item is live Pier1.com. 

    Success in this role requires that the candidate be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, be a great cross functional partner and communicator, enjoy working with data and finding creative solutions to business problems. You must be a self-starter with a willingness to hit the ground running.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Responsible for set up of new vendors

    • Operate as a liaison with Vendor Relations, RevCascade and MerchCompliance throughout the process to ensure suppliers are onboarded efficiently.  
    • Explain important internal processes to our vendor partners and account managers. 
    • Maintain Vendor Dashboard; ensure information is up to date and accurate at all times.

    Manage and prioritize sku creation and path to web.

    • Work cross functionally, following up as needed until an item is live on site; including but not limited to suppliers, marketing, site merchandising, RevCascade, compliance, merchandise assistants, customer service and operations.   
    • Maintain Vendor Dashboard; ensure information is up to date and accurate at all times. 
    • Continually monitor and update aging proposals; gather information as needed until status is complete. 
    • Update product category attributes and classifications to enhance customer satisfaction.   
    • Validate information provided by the supplier for accuracy and completeness.

    Collaborate across departments, internally and externally, to assist Drop Ship Merchandise Manager in driving business goals. 

    • Communicate effectively on progress, hurdles and supplier feedback. Ensure follow up is timely. 
    • Be solution oriented and apply broad merchandising concepts to make smart and sustainable case by case decisions. 
    • Manage and prioritize multiple projects at once. 
    • Assist with ongoing supplier negotiations to secure optimal pricing and promotional support.   
    • Use data and creativity to identify and advocate for process improvements. Produce new technology driven process enhancements as initiatives and business needs change. 
    • Assist with tasks related supplier visits and trade shows; including schedules, recaps, and expenses. 
    • Stay organized while pivoting and refining strategies as priorities evolve

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree required
    • Highly organized with acute attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects at once. 
    • Self-starter capable of achieving goals in an unstructured environment
    • Ability to adapt to real-time discussions to optimize outcomes. 
    • Effective communicator. 
    • Proven ability to thrive as part of a team and individually
