  • Overview

    The Network Operations Analyst position is responsible for installing, monitoring, and supporting all Data and Voice connectivity for Pier 1 Imports including our Stores, Field Management offices, Distribution centers and the Corporate Office. This includes interacting with a team of analysts and overseeing the everyday performance of the Pier 1 Network.  In addition, this position will configure network equipment (i.e. routers, switches, etc.), manage installation of circuits, monitor vendor SLA's, and provide reports to support existing and future network capabilities. This Analyst will provide voice support for Avaya Unified Communications and Cisco Unified Communications. On-call Rotation on a weekly rotation between team members, Tuesday – Tuesday. Store and Distribution Center travel once or twice a year for store opening preparations and DC refresh where needed.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Demonstrate and perform advanced network troubleshooting techniques. Identify and replace faulty and inoperable equipment, such as circuit cards and/or router processing units (i.e. WAN Interface Cards, router CPU, etc.). Perform maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
    • Log and track calls using problem management database and maintain history records.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with service providers, vendors, and users.
    • Configure and install networking hardware for all Pier 1 retail stores and remote locations.
    • Coordinate the installation of data circuits, including ordering new data circuits and disconnecting circuits at locations being closed or relocated.
    • Support remote ISDN and Async sites periodically to test backup circuits and equipment for production network systems
    • Work with remote locations to provide LAN cabling for all devices including routers, switches, PC's, printers, etc.
    • Respond to electronic pages and phone calls from multiple internal sources and provide primary support for customers experiencing problems with network communications hardware and software.
    • There will be on-call rotation for off-hour support after business hours and during the weekends.
    • establishing networking environment by Implementing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
    • Implement new solutions and improve resilience of the current environment;
    • Maximize network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
    • Undertake data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources.
    • Secure network system by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access.
    • Report network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information and managing projects.
    • Upgrade data network equipment to latest stable firmware releases.
    • Configure routing and switching equipment.
    • Remote support of on-site Technicians and end users/customers during installation.
    • Remote troubleshoot and fault finding issues occurring upon initial installation.
    • Liaison with Network Architects, project management teams, and IT service desk on a regular basis.

    Education & Experience

    • 3-5 years Network Communications experience (Cisco preferred)
    • Multifaceted experience with troubleshooting WAN circuits, including Dial-Up, DMVPN, Frame Relay, MPLS, ISDN, DSL, Cable etc…
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Server/Workstation environment (Windows 2008 and Windows 7 Preferred)
    • Technical degree or equivalent experience
    • CCNA/CCNP Designations are a plus
    • Experience with Telephone systems – Avaya PBX and Voice mail, Cisco Call manager, Configuration and moves add changes
    • Cisco LMS
    • Experience with monitoring Tools. Whats Up, Orion, Riverbed,
    • Microsoft excel – vlookups, Pivot tables, Scripting a plus, Programming Perl, Python or equivalent
    • Good communication skills with peers and customers via verbal, email and phone
    • Capable of working under pressure while handling multiple issues.
