  • Overview

    The Sourcing Specialist will support the overall Global Sourcing project plan and deliverables. They will be responsible for monitoring timelines and ensuring tasks are completed in advance of deadlines. They will interact with a diverse group of business partners including Global Sourcing, Merchandising, Planning & Allocations, Compliance, and Supply Chain. In addition, they will partner with Vendors and Agents throughout the world & must have the ability to clearly & concisely communicate the needs of the business.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Identify and communicate specific requirements for each new and ongoing product in the Pier 1 Imports assortment.
      Initiate, follow up, review, and retain necessary documentation for Pier 1 Imports products including; bill of materials, component costs, and product specifications. Collect & validate documents from vendors to ensure that they are compliant with Pier 1 standards. Validate vendor documents & ensure that the products & materials have been properly specified on all documents. Must have a clear understanding of the vendor submission process & have the ability to review bills that are submitted.
    • Manage communication with both domestic and international business partners.  Monitor various email boxes and coordinate the resolution of inquiries and concerns.  Requires interaction with various levels in the organizational hierarchy and the ability to persuade others to complete tasks and resolve concerns. 
    • Support Sourcing Managers by identifying and prioritizing incoming requests.  Ensure requests are integrated in to the Souring Project Plan and communicate timelines with stakeholders. Manage vendor database & costing component within the database. Review building material components & associated costs.
    • Support the Global Sourcing team with general administrative needs that enable the Sourcing Project Plan and deliverables.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or other related area of focus preferred
    • 1+ year of experience in Retail Sourcing, Buying or Product Development 
    • Detail oriented, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment while multi-tasking and sustaining multiple projects 
    • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive decision making
    • Ability to adapt to different cultural norms and ways of communicating and working with partners throughout the world
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced Excel skills)
