  • Overview

    The Payroll Analyst provides strategic financial and business analysis support through preparation of forecast, income statement analysis and other ad hoc projects.  The position requires advanced excel skills, strong analytical skills, a working knowledge of financial statements, an ability to influence others not under this person's direct authority, and an ability to seek out and validate information across the organization.  Reports and analysis produced by this person will be used to help make forward-looking decisions and predictions about department/company performance and within key internal and external communications.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Duties of the time sensitive month end closing process related to such topics as bonus (home office, DC, field, etc.), self-insured medical reserves and Deferred Compensation Plans. These duties include but are not limited to preparing journal entries, forecasting related expenses and P & L results analysis and resolution.
    • Provide reports/documents for internal/external audit requests, annual 401(k) plan audit, bank exams, workers comp audits as well as reporting for the proxy and annual report. Review of 404 documents to ensure internal controls are well designed and functioning properly.
    • Prepare requests from management for any ad hoc items/projects effectively communicating results to allow for forward looking decisions to be made. Continually strives to improve processes and/or procedures by providing recommendations or participating in department initiatives.
    • Perform analytics, account reconciliation, and forecasting for various benefit accounts, deferred comp plans, restricted stock, and benefit rate testing scenarios.
    • Assist with US and Canada related projects, payroll issues, including interfaces with the general ledger, monthly reporting and any other automation of processes. Assist the Payroll Department with miscellaneous duties as needed in relation to the processing of payroll, payroll taxes as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree required
    • CPA and/or CPP a plus
    • Intermediate Excel skills required
