Overview

The Allocations Analyst is a key member of the Merchandising POD that is responsible for driving the business for a particular merchandise department(s).  The Allocator carefully and thoughtfully distributes merchandise in order to achieve optimum inventory levels for all business channels by analyzing market trends, interpreting average rates of sale and determining promotional and seasonal requirements through the use of Pier 1 Imports' reporting and allocations tools.  They communicate with their Buyer and Planner regarding strategies to drive sales as well as mitigate any inventory risks.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Determine store assortments based on store size, sales volume, and other factors to maximize sales, minimize markdowns, and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Accountable for reviewing and releasing Store Orders to ensure timely replenishment of sales in stores.
  • Create allocations strategies for seasonal and event products to achieve and exceed department plans
  • Develop Store Groups for assortment and inventory strategies that will help maximize sales opportunities and minimize markdown risks.
  • Create Profiles and manage Policies in DCM (Demand Chain Management) that support effective sales planning for the business and drive tactical execution of the allocation strategy.
  • Determine if there is sufficient DC inventory to chase strong sales and work with their Planner to make adjustments to Mins, Store Counts, Forecasts, and DC WOS as needed.
  • Coordinate with their Buyer and Planner on seasonal and rebuy inventory strategies ensuring there is space in stores and determining appropriate inventory levels.
  • Provide their Buyer and Planner with the most relevant regional selling, market basket, and top store performance information to enable effective decision-making for future assortment strategies.
  • Have regular cross-functional communication with Buyers, Planners, Distribution Centers, Logistics, and Stores.
  • Accountable for maintaining optimal inventory levels, tracking purchase orders, and ensuring a timely flow of merchandise for all business channels.

Education & Experience

  • 4 – year college degree preferred
  • 1 – 3 years experience
  • Analytical experience, understanding of retail math, problem solving skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and have aptitude to learn technical applications quickly.

  • Strong team work skills to build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of business partners.
