In collaboration with the Marketing Data Product Manager, this position will support all ongoing marketing data products including but not limited to customer MDM, loyalty and campaign management initiatives. This role will support the development and execution of IT design and testing strategy in support of new marketing initiatives and  enhancements. The Marketing Data System Analyst will own project management, testing and delivery of technical features associated with new marketing initiatives and enhancements to existing programs. This role will be resposible for data preparation for vendors in support of reverse append, predictive modeling, and other marketing data services that are critical to MDM and ongoing marketing program execution. In addition, this person is responsible for communicating, prioritizing and resolving customer data issues. To be successful, he or she must demonstrate a strong committment to data quality.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Launch Project Management:  Coordinate with IT development teams contributing to new Marketing initiatives to ensure project scope and timeline expectations are met. Oversee project requirements, development team work assignments and project milestones in Agile development management platform. Manage testing and QA efforts leading up to and including full integration testing.
  • Customer Data Issues and Research:  Research and resolve customer data issues referred by key customer data stakeholders including Customer Relations, Stores, Legal and Home Office associates. Analyze potential impact, evaluate risk and escalate customer data issues. Author, maintain and clearly communicate to internal stakeholders best practices relating to gathering, storing and interpreting customer data. 
  • Marketing Data Integrity:  Evaluate processes and procedures for data inputs regularly to ensure accuracy and reliability of vendor data. Cooperate with Marketing, IT and Vendors to ensure data is acurate, complete and transfering at optimal cadence. Track and analyze append success and exception rates. Work with product team to identify, record and verify acceptance criteria for customer data defects. Monitor and analyze development and production data on a regular basis to identify customer data issues and assists with validating new marketing products.
  • Marketing Data Security:  Serve as a customer data expert resource for Marketing, Internal Audit, Legal and other departments. Ensure PII is handled correctly when transferring data outside the Pier 1 network. Work closely with information security team to ensure new and existing data transfer processes meet all security requirements. 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree Required
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Retail data experience and a solid quantitative background including proficiency in problem solving and data analysis.
  • Strong ability to pull business relevancy from data, an understanding of CRM principals and concepts, and the ability to join unknown variables together to form a larger picture for the business.  
  • Advanced knowledge of relational databases with some experience with database marketing languages and tools, including SQL, SAS, Alteryx, Adobe Campaign or comparative programs.
  • Exccellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).  
  • Experience working in Agile or Kanban model. 
  • Ability to adapt and learn new technologies.
