Overview

The Revenue Accounting Analyst manages the accounting for gift cards and lead sales auditors.  This role is responsible for accurate financial statements in regards to gift cards including breakage and escheatment; analyst will research applicable accounting guidance, perform month end close processes and analyze data.  This position will also be responsible for various revenue accounting journal entries, analysis, and reconciliations

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accounting subject matter expert for gift cards, which includes gift card sales (internally and third party), discounts, escheatment, breakage, and promotions.  For gift cards, ensure financial statements are accurate and in accordance with GAAP and previously elected accounting policies, and that applicable internal controls are maintained.  Perform annual SOC 1 review.  Responsible for monthly accounting journal entries and reconciliations.  Perform detailed financial modeling regarding breakage experience and advise management quarterly regarding the rate of breakage and recommendations for percent to record.
  • Lead the sales audit team on a daily basis.  Assist with questions and research, and audit stores as needed. Train new sales auditors.  Perform table maintenance in sales audit. 
  • Attend daily stand-ups for POS and sales audit IT teams, providing a daily synopsis to team of relevant activities.
  • Perform monthly accounting duties for other revenue accounting transactions.

Education & Experience

  • 4 – year college degree required (Accounting or Finance preferred)
  • 3 – 5 years experience
  • Must have strong Excel skills, including ability to perform complex formulas, analyze large volumes of data, and efficiently build clean data tables from multiple sources and applications.  
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and a history of developing positive working relationships across many levels of the organization. 
  • Must have working knowledge of GAAP for revenue recognition and ability to research.
