Overview

The NOC Technician will join a growing and evolving 24/7 NOC team who will provide monitoring and support for Pier 1 operations. Monitoring will include, but not be limited to, the Pier 1 network, data center presence, as well as production environment and physical security.  This Technician will also support the Pier 1 crisis management team, and will monitor and answer the Pier 1 crisis line.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor and support the Pier 1 network, critical systems and applications, as well as the health and security of data center environments. Respond to alerts and mitigate / escalate as needed. Coordinate notification and communication as needed through email, SMS, Spark, WebEx and any other tools chosen by management.
  • Monitor and ensure all production jobs are scheduled and run according to the production schedule. Trouble shoot any exceptions to the production schedule and work with Applications Support or Infrastructure Support to resolve issues. Work with System Support after hours to support Pier 1 stores and distribution centers support needs.
  • Ensure all critical systems are up and running at all times (includes mission and business critical applications, credit, network connectivity). Coordinate different support team’s activities when called to provide corrective action in the event of an outage. Coordinate notification and communication as needed through email, SMS, Spark, WebEx and any other tools chosen by management.
  • Monitor and answer the Pier 1 crisis line, work with stores, DCs and associates in gathering information per documentation needs, and then notify via text, email and phone calls as required. Coordinate with the Pier 1 crisis management team. Hosting WebEx bridge calls, assisting with notification, and assisting with the needs of associates in the field.

Education & Experience

  • 3-5 years with similar experience.
  • Associates Degree preferred or equivalent experience with IT related certifications.
  • Server management, general knowledge of TCP/IP, scheduling software, understanding of computer hardware and the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Excellent communications skills both written and oral.
  • Intermediate PC/Internet literacy.
  • Ability to learn and grow in a fast moving, team-oriented environment. Continual improvement of skills and knowledge to support the expanding skill set and knowledge base needed to support Pier 1 operations.
  • Ability to sit for long hours monitoring systems consoles, work in a temperature controlled data center, lift at least 50 lbs., and ability to work any shift to support coverage needs.
