Overview

Manage the accounting for ecommerce activity and home delivery returns.  Responsible for accurate financial statements in regards to ecommerce which includes researching applicable accounting guidance, performing month end close processes and analyzing data.   This position will also be responsible for supporting those involved in various projects by backfilling some of their daily/monthly accounting duties on an as-needed basis. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accounting subject matter expert for ecommerce accounting items such as home delivery inventory, delivery and packaging expense, and ecommerce allocations.   For applicable processes, ensure financial statements are accurate and in accordance with GAAP and previously elected accounting policies, and that applicable internal controls are maintained.  Responsible for monthly accounting journal entries and reconciliations.  Perform detailed financial analysis and financial modeling related to ecommerce expenses and inventory and prepare applicable reports, such as validation of allocations.  
  • Responsible for accounting for home delivery returns and processing inventory transfers to stores.  Responsible for arranging physical inventories at third party providers, reviewing results, analyzing and researching discrepancies, and posting results to reconcile our records to third party records.
  • Research FASB rules related to ecommerce fulfillment expenses or inventory.  Prepare documentation regarding the application of principles to concepts proposed, including GAAP for inventory cost components.  

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree Required (Accounting or Finance preferred)
  • 3+ years of relevant financial or accounting experience
  • Must have strong Excel skills, including ability to perform complex formulas, analyze large volumes of data, and efficiently build clean data tables from multiple sources and applications.  
  • Must have working knowledge of GAAP for inventory cost components.
