Due to growth and lots of exciting new initiatives, we are looking for a User Experience Architect to join our Ecommerce team!  The UX Architect is responsible for improving the ecommerce web experience for both and Stores.  Web experience includes all aspects of User Experience: design, usabilility, functionality, navigation, and user interface.  This role will partner cross functionally throughout the Pier 1 organization with the following teams: Creative Marketing, Stores, IT, Analytics and Ecommerce.  This role will lead efforts to conceptualize, design, prototype and A/B test ideas that ensure theY meet overall business requirements, while maintain branding, aesthetic, functional, and workflow requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

What You'll Do 

  • Using insights gained through usability studies, customer research, taxonomy testing, site testing and stakeholder interviews, recommend improvements to functionality, navigation and UI design elements. Continually optimize for increased online and store conversion and engagement.  Provide tactical recommendations within the organization to develop and refine the experience across all channels.
  • Prototype and design appropriate interfaces, focusing on the customer and experience goals. Be able to articulate reasons for design decisions, where further testing is needed and where designs will be iterative based upon analysis of user interaction in the production environment.  Make sure all designs and recommendations are accessible. 
  • Work with the Pier 1 Ecommerce Product Management team to create project and task priorities and first-pass approval of deliverables. Assist the Product Management team, IT Applications teams, Creative Marketing Team and 3rd-party vendors to implement completed designs into production environments.  Help determine processes that are sustainable and repeatable.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of multi-variate and A/B tests for Utilize analytics in determining testing needs and evaluating results and steps forward.  Partner closely with the Web Analytics team when necessary.
  • Research new and emerging technologies and best practices that can be used to enhance the customer's experience within Pier 1's web properties and stores.  Provides regular updates to applicable teams.

Education & Experience

What You'll Need

  • 4 Year College Degree 
  • 1+ year of dedicated UX experience 
  • Expert knowledge of UI design, Ecommerce best practices, and theories behind user motivations and behaviors.
  • Knowledge of web technologies such as CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. Some experience in web analytic tools: Omniture, Google Analytics or Coremetrics.
  • Proficient with wireframing and prototyping tools (e.g. Sketch, Adobe XD, UXPin, etc.) 
  • Strong exposure to user testing, a/b testing, herusitic and taxonomy analysis.
  • Must possess excellent communication (verbal and written) and influencing skills.
