Duties: Configure and maintain enterprise backup solutions, including monitoring performance and results, developing retention strategies, maintaining current patch levels, and determining cost effective usage of backup storage. Work directly with the infrastructure and applications teams to implement appropriate backup solutions and develop roadmaps for future backup technologies. Oversee the security and integrity of all data. Collaborate with managers and team members within the company in carrying out these responsibilities, and assist with critical storage concerns. Provide daily status reports of system operations to management essential for maintaining regulatory compliance. Optimize and configure current backup strategies, configure current NetBackup environment to ensure that all production and targeted non-production data is efficiently, effectively, and securely backed up. Adjustment information based on data growth and environmental changes. Monitor and report backup environment, author and distribute NetBackup reports for space usage, performance, backup success/failures, and in-scope audit systems. Configure monitoring for media and master servers and set up alerts when certain metrics or thresholds are met. Maintain current hardware and software, and develop patching and maintenance plans for NetBackup. Support and compatible versions with Red Hat Linux media and master servers. Work closely with vendor and Linux server team for server health and updates. Evaluate storage / growth trends, and provide continual evaluation of our current growth trends. Proactively plan with Storage Administrators and management to utilize and procure backup storage. Assist operations team with ad-hoc restores and installation of new agents, clients, and troubleshooting incidents in our backup environments. Review, maintain, author, and enforce backup system policies. Schedule and coordinate required DR tests on key applications. Interact with internal and external auditors for SOX and PCI requirements and compliance. Research new technology and cost effective changes (Cloud, etc.).
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation. Experience must include: 1) Three years of experience working with HP/3PAR storage systems. 2) Three years of experience managing, planning, and configuring dedupe technology. 3) Experience architecting a brand new Net Backup System including the migration of all data from a legacy system. 4) Five years of experience backing up both Oracle and SQL Server databases. 5) Five years of experience configuring backups for a VMWare environment.
