Overview

At Pier 1 Imports, we love to have fun, we love people and we work hard. Our IT teams interact with all home office, field and other departments, including senior management. The Senior Analyst has the responsibility of helping to lead and direct business partners in a cross functional effort to plan and execute IT projects. The role also assists in leading System Teams for cross-functional software delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilize communication, problem-solving, innovative thinking and teamwork skills to support and positively affect the ongoing needs of IT software delivery.
  • Coordinate and facilitate cross functional meetings and requirements (story) gathering and creation as they relate to specific focus areas.
  • Analyze, initiate and implement new business/system processes (utilizing best practices) to optimize department effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and support to delivery partners for story creation, dependency management and prioritization of stories and features. Ensure stories/requirements are thorough and complete, and that cross-functional dependencies are documented and managed.
  • Test processes and software by creating test plans and test cases/scripts. Conduct end user acceptance testing to ensure software meets business acceptance criteria.
  • Troubleshoot and identify issues and defects during the development and implementation life-cycle. Communicate test results with stakeholders to determine priority and best course of action to correct.
  • Work in an Agile team, advocating for the product managers, delivery partners, and users throughout software implementations.
  • Serve as the liaison between IT department and other departments of the company to investigate system issues and assist with solution discovery and execution. Source information from across all areas of the company as needed for the accomplishment of projects, problem resolution and to assist with management discussions of future direction.
  • The scope of this position includes interaction with all Home Office, Field and other departments, including senior management. It is the responsibility of the analyst to assist various departments’ associates in identifying and evaluating opportunities to more efficiently and successfully meet or exceed their goals and objectives.

Education & Experience

  • Experience in an Agile environment, Scrum Master certification is ideal.
  • A passion for retail and working in an agile team to drive change.
  • ​Excellent organization and communication skills, combined with strong business judgment and an ability to present business requirements in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Experience managing complex projects across multiple teams
  • Proven experience in identifying opportunities for process improvement and defining/measuring the success of those initiatives.
  • Strong presentation skills
