The Network Operations Specialist position is responsible for installing, monitoring, and supporting all wide area networks (WAN) for Pier 1 Imports. This includes interacting with a team of analysts overseeing the everyday performance of the Pier 1 WAN, LAN and Voice Environments.  In addition, this position will configure new store and remote network equipment (i.e. routers, switches, etc.), manage installation of all WAN circuits, monitor vendor SLA's, and provide support of the Home office LAN configuring and troubleshooting ports.


This position will interact with Corporate, Distributions Centers and Store associates, as well as, all telecom vendors and the Support Center. This job is responsible for providing end-to-end trouble resolution, coordinating technology, remote technician visits and vendor service changes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work trouble ticket escalations from Tier 1 support. Track Pier 1 and provider tickets and escalate as required.
  • Coordinate remote vendor work to repair remotes sites.
  • Help corporate and remote associates through trouble-shooting procedures to fix or isolate voice and data network issues.
  • Ship new equipment to remote sites and coordinate configuration and installation.
  • Coordinate external vendor work for new technology installations and vendor service migrations for Stores, Distribution Centers and Field Offices
  • Provide after-hours support for Stores, Distribution Centers, and Corporate Office in a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Proactively monitor and troubleshoot Pier 1's voice and data systems to provide the best end-user experience possible with the technologies used.

Education & Experience

  • 2-3 years of prior experience required
  • Some college preferred
  • Core Cisco platform experience preferred
  • CCNA, CCNP & Network+ Certifications needed
  • Ability to work well under pressure while handling multiple issues a must
  • On-call Rotation on a weekly rotation between team members required
  • Cisco IOS, Voice key systems, Cisco Call Manager, Avaya PBX, dot1x and cabling experience preferred
  • Ability to travel to stores and DC occasionally for store opening preparations and refreshes where needed
