  • Duties & Responsibilities

    • Oversee all customer facing systems and ensure consistent customer experience across all system touch-points
    • Work closely with Stores, Ecommerce, and Marketing Executives, Business Partners, and Product Management to deliver key initiatives related to Project Bannister, including but not limited to:
      • Unified Commerce to enhance our omni-channel customer experience across stores, ecommerce, customer relations and create competitive advantage through creative use of technology
      • Customer 360 to create a single view of customer across all customer touch-points with Pier 1, supporting personalization and new customer acquisition
    • Manage 3rd party relationships with key vendors (Salesforce, Adobe, Oracle, etc), influence their technology roadmap to support Pier 1’s vision of Unified Commerce and Customer 360
    • Manage and negotiate technology contracts/renewals related to customer systems
    • Work closely with Direct of Engineering to provide optimal software engineering solutions using backend micro-services and build vs buy decisions
    • Ensure availability, reliability and uptime of all customer facing systems working closely with the in-house Infrastructure teams (for internal applications) and 3rd party vendors (for packaged applications and SaaS solutions)
    • Manage security risks in Customer Facing systems (working closely with the CISO)
    • Oversee technology teams (both onsite and offshore) to deliver optimal technology solutions and reduce technical debt with the highest possible velocity and throughput while ensuring professional well-being and morale of team members

    • Technical Acumen to challenge and lead developers, testers, and engineers towards optimal technology solution built using micro-services architecture
    • Ability to connect the dots and see the bigger picture so as to build a strong technology foundation that will provide flexibility and speed to value for Pier 1’s business
    • An eye for where and how to improve efficiency in the organization through automation and machine learning
    • Ability to Follow-up and follow through to completion whether it is a large initiative or small task discussed with Business / IT leadership
