Pier 1 is currently looking for a Corporate Counsel II to join our team. This role will have a primary focus on Pier 1's Marketing efforts and Intellectual Property.
Duties & Responsibilities
Draft, negotiate, and review various commercial agreements, including marketing agreements, promotional agreements, production agreements, master service agreements, advertising insertion orders, statements of work, and work orders.
Provide legal support for contests, sweepstakes and other promotions, including drafting and revising rules and required disclosures.
Review advertising copy and provide advice regarding compliance with FTC guidelines, CASL, CAN-SPAM and other laws and regulations impacting retail organizations.
Work closely with and advise internal marketing and business teams.
Assist in administration of corporate policies and procedures, such as vendor security, privacy compliance, and contract approval.
Provide legal support and review of consumer facing digital experiences, including e-commerce and digital/social marketing projects.
Provide legal guidance regarding copyright design and enforcement actions.
Work with internal and outside counsel to establish, maintain and protect the global trademarks portfolio, including defending challenges and challenging infringing marks and domains.
Education & Experience
Juris Doctor degree and admitted to practice law in the US
4-8 years of experience, with top law firm and/or in house legal department experience preferred
Strong understanding of the digital advertising landscape and advertising technology issues, media buying and other industry specific legal needs
Experience in US marketing law, data privacy, intellectual property, and digital media
Strong drafting, negotiating, and writing skills
Strategic thinker and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
