  • Overview

    Pier 1 is currently looking for a Corporate Counsel II to join our team. This role will have a primary focus on Pier 1's Marketing efforts and Intellectual Property.  

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Draft, negotiate, and review various commercial agreements, including marketing agreements, promotional agreements, production agreements, master service agreements, advertising insertion orders, statements of work, and work orders.
    • Provide legal support for contests, sweepstakes and other promotions, including drafting and revising rules and required disclosures.
    • Review advertising copy and provide advice regarding compliance with FTC guidelines, CASL, CAN-SPAM and other laws and regulations impacting retail organizations.
    • Work closely with and advise internal marketing and business teams.
    • Assist in administration of corporate policies and procedures, such as vendor security, privacy compliance, and contract approval.
    • Provide legal support and review of consumer facing digital experiences, including e-commerce and digital/social marketing projects.
    • Provide legal guidance regarding copyright design and enforcement actions.
    • Work with internal and outside counsel to establish, maintain and protect the global trademarks portfolio, including defending challenges and challenging infringing marks and domains.

    Education & Experience

    • Juris Doctor degree and admitted to practice law in the US
    • 4-8 years of experience, with top law firm and/or in house legal department experience preferred
    • Strong understanding of the digital advertising landscape and advertising technology issues, media buying and other industry specific legal needs
    • Experience in US marketing law, data privacy, intellectual property, and digital media
    • Strong drafting, negotiating, and writing skills
    • Strategic thinker and ability to work independently with minimal supervision
