  • Overview

    The Associate HR Manager position is a support role that partners with leadership and associates to pro-actively lead, model and uphold our vision and values and provide HR expertise that is solution oriented and aligned with the overall business strategy.  This position will provide education to those leaders on the importance of maintaining compliance with respect to company policies and federal, state and local employment law.  Additionally, the Associate HR Manager assists in maximizing associate relations' performance through proactive training and development on various associate related issues. 

     

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Utilizes knowledge of Pier 1 Imports people management policies, procedures and basic parameters of employment laws and liabilities in order to provide guidance, counsel and advice to leadership on a variety of associate relations issues.
    • Partners with leadership to mediate and resolve conflict among associates. Provides guidance and support on the investigatory process to include information gathering on all elevated associate relations' issues.  Personally, conducts investigations to escalated matters.
    • Assists in developing leadership on associate relations' skills and identifies opportunities to minimize and prevent associate issues. Provides direction and follow up on company policies, procedures and documentation through developmental coaching and counseling. Reviews and edits performance improvement documentation for the purpose of educating leadership on maximizing the use of performance management tools to enhance associate performance.
    • Maintains and expands knowledge and understanding of existing and proposed federal, state and local laws/regulations affecting people management and changes to business practices that must occur as a result. Interprets laws and policies and advises leadership and associates accordingly.
    • Communicates and acts as a support liaison between associates and various home office departments
    • Manages or has a contributing role to various organization or area specific projects or initiatives as needed.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred
    • Three or more years of Human Resources experience in a multi-tasking, fast paced environment, preferably in the retail industry
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
