    Pier 1 Imports is currently looking for a Planning Manager to join our Merchandise Planning & Allocations team!  In this role, you will be responsible for training and developing a team of Merchandise Planners while responsible for the oversight, execution and communication of our financial plans and strategies at the division level through partnership across the Merchandising, Pricing and Sourcing organizations.  You will be responsible for overseeing sales, gross margin, inventory management, SKU lifecycle management within your team and assure accuracy and execution of markdown timing, receipt management, Open to Buy and SKU forecasting, reporting and analysis. 

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Develop and drive strategies through analysis of selling and its performance to financial goals and customer expectations. Review and advise regarding impact of strategies on overall financial goals.
    • Partner on the development of division financial plans.  Manage/oversee promotional and clearance planning at the division level. Work with Planners to assure adherence to the financial plan. Use Open to Buy management to drive company sales and profitability.
    • Partner with Sourcing and Pricing and Promotions teams and use available data points to develop the long-term strategy for the division. 
    • Manage and review planner recommendations as they relate to product lifecycle management and inventory flow.  Identify inventory levels needed to support sales objectives based on sell through goals, exit dates, visual strategy and gross margin target.
    • Lead, motivate, train and develop a team of data-oriented Merchandise Planners think and act strategically.

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelors Degree Required
    • 5+ years of experience in corporate retail or consulting
    • Proven track record of changing and improving processes
    • Ability to think creatively and collaborate with partners across the organization
    • Leadership experience developing and mentoring a team
